ABS plastic is synthesized from three chemical monomers, acrylonitrile, butadiene and styrene. It is one of the most important raw materials for LED injection molding modules. Each monomer has different characteristics: acrylonitrile has high strength, thermal stability and chemical stability; butadiene has toughness and impact resistance; styrene has Easy processing, high finish and high strength. From a morphological point of view, ABS is an amorphous material. The polymerization of the three monomers produces a terpolymer with two phases, a continuous phase of styrene-acrylonitrile and a dispersed phase of polybutadiene rubber. The characteristics of ABS plastic raw materials mainly depend on the ratio of the three monomers and the molecular structure in the two phases.

6. ABS resin is resistant to water, inorganic salts, alkalis and acids, insoluble in most alcohols and hydrocarbon solvents, but easily soluble in aldehydes, ketones, esters and some chlorinated hydrocarbons.

The fluidity of ABS is between PS and PC, and its fluidity is related to injection temperature and pressure. The influence of injection pressure is slightly larger. Therefore, higher injection pressure is often used during molding to reduce melt viscosity and improve mold filling. performance.

The water absorption rate of ABS is about 0.2%-0.8%. For general grade ABS, use an oven at 80-85 °C for 2-4 hours or use a drying hopper at 80 °C for 1-2 hours before processing. For heat-resistant grade ABS containing PC components, the drying temperature should be appropriately increased to 100 °C, and the specific drying time can be determined by extruding in the air.

The proportion of recycled materials cannot exceed 30%, and the use of recycled materials cannot be used in electroplating-grade ABS. The injection molding machine selects Ramada's standard injection molding machine (the screw length-diameter ratio is 20:1, the compression ratio is greater than 2, and the injection pressure is greater than 1500bar). If the color masterbatch is used or the appearance of the product is required to be high, a screw with a smaller diameter can be used. The clamping force is determined according to 4700-6200t/m2, which depends on the plastic grade and product requirements. Mould and gate designMold temperature can be set to 60-65℃. The diameter of the runner is 6-8mm. The gate width is about 3mm, the thickness is the same as the product, and the gate length is less than 1mm. The exhaust hole is 4-6mm wide and 0.025-0.05mm thick.

These characteristics of ABS make it a good raw material for LED injection molding module.
