The LED lighting industry is starting the "leader" system

This year, both domestic sales and exports of LED lighting have shown rapid growth. However, the market is mixed, and after the rapid replacement of traditional lighting in the next few years, where will China's huge LED industry go, these are two major propositions that plague the industry.

Yesterday (10th) afternoon, the National Semiconductor Lighting Engineering R&D and Industry Alliance (CSA) announced that China's LED lighting industry officially launched the "Leader" system to regulate the market and promote technological progress in the industry. The first batch of lists will be announced in October this year. At the same time, it also launched a cultural technology innovation service alliance, hoping to expand the application space for LED through cross-border innovation.

Exports increased by nearly 50%

Wu Ling, secretary-general of the National Semiconductor Lighting Engineering R&D and Industry Alliance, said that she just came back from the Las Vegas Lighting Show and saw that 95% to 98% of lighting products are LEDs. After about ten years of hard work in semiconductor lighting, "the day is dawning today".

In fact, not only the Chinese market, but also the overseas LED lighting market is very hot this year.

According to the data of Gaogong LED Research Institute, in 2013, China's LED lighting export scale exceeded 5.4 billion US dollars. In the first quarter of 2014, China's LED lighting exports reached US$1.376 billion, a year-on-year increase of 63.7%. In April 2014, China's LED lighting exports reached a record high of US$867 million.

"In 2014, China's LED lighting exports will exceed 8 billion US dollars, an increase of 48% year-on-year." Zhang Xiaofei, president of the High-tech LED Research Institute, predicts that in 2014, the export of LED lighting sources and lamps will reach 1.85 billion, an increase of 71.3%, and the market size will increase by 48%. %, which means "prices continue to fall".

In the face of the outbreak of the LED lighting market, how to build a healthy LED industry ecological environment is particularly urgent.

According to the statistics of Gaogong LED, in overseas markets, the recall of Chinese LED lighting products involves more than 70 brands, of which 44 are unknown brands, most of which are related to electromagnetic compatibility. Zhang Xiaofei called on China's LED lighting industry to be self-disciplined to avoid damaging the overall image of Chinese brands and affecting overseas LED lighting orders. system to regulate the market

"It is very important to launch the front-runner system today," Wu Ling said.

Ruan Jun, executive deputy secretary-general of the National Semiconductor Lighting Engineering R&D and Industry Alliance, said that Japan has had successful experience in implementing the energy efficiency leader system. As early as 2011, the National Development and Reform Commission proposed to establish a "leader" system for semiconductor lighting; in 2013, the "Semiconductor Lighting Energy Saving Industry Plan" jointly issued by six ministries and commissions further clarified.

Ruan Jun told that the "Leader" system is divided into the production end and the product end. By periodically evaluating the energy consumption level of each production link (chip, packaging, application) and end products in the LED industry chain, it will have the highest energy efficiency production. High-level enterprises and the most energy-efficient products are positioned as frontrunners and dynamically adjusted periodically.

"It is planned to release the first list of front-runners in October this year." Ruan Jun revealed to this reporter that it is unclear whether the short-listed front-runners will receive government subsidies. The key is to promote high-efficiency and energy-saving LED products by publishing the list of energy efficiency leaders, encourage technological innovation of enterprises, and cultivate brand enterprises to guide the healthy development of this emerging industry.

Li Guoping, chairman of Guangzhou Hongli Optoelectronics, who just watched the "2014 Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition", exclaimed: "Some companies have an annual income of 30 million to 50 million yuan, but they spend 3 million yuan to set up a booth. The LED lighting industry has risen, but products It's a bit messy. A Jiangxi company's 9-watt bulb only sells for 5 yuan, which will hurt consumers with high LED expectations, because some LED lights are not energy-saving at all, so the industry really needs standards. Now the association promotes the leader The system can help consumers choose the best among the best.”

Tang Guoqing, general manager of Samsung LED China, believes that although it is still unclear whether there will be subsidies for the frontrunners, once shortlisted, it will undoubtedly increase the basis for enterprises to participate in government procurement. He suggested that the front-runner system should announce the shortlist once every six months or a year, and it should not be too frequent; at the same time, it is hoped that the judging process should be fair, open and impartial.

Cross-border innovation

Another problem that plagues the healthy development of the LED lighting industry is that the lifespan of LED lighting is seven or eight years, much longer than the two or three years of energy-saving lamps. At present, the popularity of LED lighting is so fast. In a few years, after the replacement of traditional lighting, the renewal cycle of the lighting industry will be extended. Where is the future growth space for tens of thousands of LED companies in China?

Zhang Xiaofei said that the global LED general lighting market grew at a high rate in 2013, but the growth rate declined rapidly. In 2013, it was 136 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 78.9%; it is expected to be 211 billion yuan in 2014, a year-on-year increase of 56.1%; in 2015, it was 320 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 51.7%. By 2020, the estimated revenue is 817 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 11.8%.

Dou Linping, secretary general of the China Illuminating Society, said bluntly: "In the next three to five years, if the replacement ends, the industry will be very scary. How will so many companies deal with the future market? If the transformation is slow, the industry will enter a phase of elimination, and eventually a group of companies with strength, brand and international standing will be formed.”

In order to open up new space, yesterday, the National Semiconductor Lighting Engineering R&D and Industry Alliance joined a number of cultural enterprises and lighting enterprises to jointly initiate the establishment of "Cultural Technology Innovation Service Alliance", hoping to open up new application space for LED. Wu Ling believes that after the completion of LED replacement of traditional lighting, in the next ten years, there is still a lot of room for its application and technology improvement, and it will develop in the direction of intelligence, personalization and more comfort.
